I write because something inside me wants the stories swirling in my head to be told.
Ever since I learned to read and write I was putting pencil to paper. Back in the day, at school we called it creative writing and I loved it. I could do that all day.
Over the years, I used my gifts to write Christmas pageants for church, curriculum for summer church camp and VBS. Then a friend who was an author and publisher encouraged me to submit a short story about my tea shop for a collection he was publishing. I wrote ‘Tea Shop Memoirs: Stewart and Annabelle’ which went on to be shortlisted for a national Canadian Writer’s award. This boost propelled me to leap into the book world and eventually I landed on self-publishing. I gathered around me some pretty talented people who critique my work and help with design. My retail shop provided a world-wide audience, quite literally, since it attracted people from all over the globe who bought my books as they came out. To that end, ‘Pirate’s Treasure’ won third place in the Wisconsin Readers’ Choice award in 2017.
I hope in the time ahead of us, we begin a dialogue. I’ll tell you a few short stories that will appear on that page. Every now and then I’ll put out a full length novel and I hope you’ll feel encouraged by what you read and write back to me what you thought.
I’ll tell you a little about myself along the way and I very much hope you will do the same.
I’m ready and excited for this journey, are you?
